Duedou is built to be your academic companion — helping you stay organized, track your progress, and make the most of every semester. This Privacy Policy explains what information we need to make that happen and how we keep it safe. We believe transparency builds trust, and we want you to feel confident using Duedou.

1What We Need to Help You

To personalize your experience and deliver the right resources for your courses, we collect a small amount of information when you sign up:

1.1 Your Account Details

Identity information: Your chosen username, full name, and gender — so we can personalize your dashboard and connect you with the right section.
Contact information: Your personal email address and university email (derived from your Class ID) — used only for account recovery and important updates.
Academic information: Department, semester, class ID, and section — this is how Duedou knows which syllabus, questions, and resources to show you.
Your password: Securely hashed using industry-standard algorithms. We never see, store, or have access to your actual password.

1.2 What You Create on Duedou

Academic progress: The syllabus topics you mark as complete, skills you check off, and your weekly progress — so you can visualize how far you’ve come.
Personal notes: Any study notes you write within Duedou are yours. We store them securely so they’re always available when you need them.
Schedule data: Your class routine and attendance records — helping you stay on top of your week.

1.3 Keeping Your Account Secure

Session information: We keep track of when you log in and out to maintain secure sessions and protect your account from unauthorized access.
Display preferences: Your theme preference (light or dark mode) is stored locally on your device — it never leaves your browser.

2How We Use Your Information

Everything we collect serves one purpose: making Duedou work better for you. Here’s exactly how:

Setting up and managing your account so you can log in securely from your devices.
Showing you the right syllabus, past questions, and study resources based on your department, semester, and section.
Powering your progress dashboard — weekly charts, completion rates, and skill milestones that help you stay motivated.
Keeping your account safe with secure sessions and access controls.
Sending you important updates about the platform when something changes.

3How We Protect Your Data

Your data is protected by multiple layers of security — we take this seriously:

All data is encrypted both in transit and at rest using enterprise-grade standards (TLS 1.2+ and AES-256).
Database-level security policies ensure you can only access your own data — your notes, progress, and profile are invisible to other users.
Authentication sessions use secure, encrypted cookies that can’t be tampered with.
We apply modern security headers and content policies to protect against common web vulnerabilities.
Sensitive actions are rate-limited to prevent automated abuse.

4We Don’t Share Your Data

This is simple: we do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with advertisers or third parties. The only exceptions:

Infrastructure providers: Our hosting and database provider (Supabase) processes data on our behalf under strict security agreements — they don’t use your data for anything else.
Legal requirements: Only if legally required by a court order or applicable law.

5You’re in Control

Your data is yours. Here’s what you can do with it anytime:

View your data: Everything about your account is visible in your Settings page.
Update your info: Change your name, academic details whenever you need.
Delete your account: Request full account deletion through a platform administrator — all your data, notes, and progress will be permanently removed.
Export your work: View your notes and progress data anytime.

6No Tracking, No Ads

Duedou respects your privacy in a way most platforms don’t:

We use no Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking.
Your browsing activity on Duedou is not profiled, tracked, or shared with advertising networks.
The only cookies we use are secure session cookies to keep you logged in.
Your theme preference stays on your device — it’s never sent to our servers.

7How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your information only as long as your account is active:

Your notes, progress, and academic data stay as long as you’re using Duedou.
Session data is cleaned up regularly and not kept beyond what’s needed for security.
If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed within 24 hours.

8Updates to This Policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we’ll let you know through an in-platform notification. The “Last updated” date at the top will always reflect the latest version.
